Today is an exciting day for me for three reasons: this is the first time I'm writing on a blog, it's our first day of our 30 day devotional and I know that God loves us and has a plan for each of our lives as we daily deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him!
It's almost here! Thirty days before we leave for Scotland. I want to thank each of our adults and students who have been working hard for over a year in preparation for MissionScotland09. We're almost ready -- just a few more things to finish up: two weeks till music is ready and memorized, band rehearsing weekly, scripture memory verses almost completed, to name a few.
Each day I'll be sharing thoughts about the trip, the daily devotional and any updated information in preparation for our trip. Once we're on the trip, I will be sharing details about our day along with pictu
res for all at home to see in order for them to experience with us what God has in store for us as we serve and honor Him in Glasgow.
I am truly humbled that God has given us this great opportunity to work along side some amazing Pastors in Glasgow and together share the Gospel in Word and Song to four schools and three churches. Continue to pray daily that God will do a mighty work in the lives of the young people and their families which we come in contact with each day of our trip. My prayer is that people we meet will see Jesus shining through each of us and that we will allow God to work in and through us in order to share His love, compassion, grace and mercy with others.
A special thanks to Robert and Julie Asbill and Jenny Sorey for writing our 30 day devotional. Today's devotional is timely and needed -- getting our hearts right with God! Did you read Psalm 51? David anguished over his sin and truly desired a clean heart. May we all have the same desire as David when he said:
"Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You."
May we all desire for God to open our lips and allow our mouth to show forth His praise (vs. 15).
Tell me what you think...
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Ken
Great blog. I'm looking forward to tracking the group while you're over there!
I completely agree! I think as a group we all need to pray daily that we can grow closer and closer to God and I want to thank you Brother Ken for helping all of us to grasp that this is a HUGE deal for us to share our faith. And as Christians its our duty to fufill God's will, no matter what it is.
I loved reading Psalms 51! "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and clesanse me from my sin. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit in me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Lord, open my lips, and my heart will declare your praise. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, will you not despise."
To be a vessel for God to use - we have to first be broken. Seems a bit strange, but God's ways are mighty and powerful and not for us to completely understand. We just step out in faith! He has to break our selfish spirits so that we can be ready to be used by Him to do wonderful things for the furtherance of His Kingdom! What an amazing privelege to be used by God for His great purpose!
