Mission Scotland 09 Blog

412 Praise, a student choir from First Baptist Church Bentonville, Arkansas, has been asked to reach out to the students in Glasgow, Scotland. The young people in Scotland are eager to meet students from the US which gives our students daily opportunities to share their faith in Christ to young people who want to hear what they have to say. This blog will lead up to and follow our trip to Glasgow March 19-28, 2009

Wanna Sonicblast?

Happy Miercoles friends! (That's "Wednesday" to you non-bilingual folks)

Having a good day?....tell me about it!...any funny things happen today?....anything that you want me to pray with you about?....click the comment button and let me know what's happening with you.

Communication is vital for any relationship, any friendship!  As today's devotion points out, you don't have a relationship with someone whom you never speak to or never spend time together.  Have you spent time with God yet today?....do it right now!

Ok. ok you're wondering about the title of today's blog....thirsty yet?.....hungry now?.....I want you to be thirsty and hungry for God's Word each day so much that I'm giving one Sonic card a day to a Mission Scotland student who answers an easy question from the day's devotion.
All you have to do is answer a few questions and submit it to the blog under "comments."  We will randomly draw a winner each day from those who submitted correct responses.  One winner per day...WOW...."incredible Bro. Ken" responds the thrall of Mission Scotland Students... "I know, I know" Bro. Ken responds with a smile and says "you'll receive your gift card at our 4:00 pm Sunday meeting!"

Here's the question from today's devotion --
1.  When spending time in prayer with God each day, what are five of the six suggested prayer guidelines? (Hint, pg. 18 in your Scotland binder...yeah, simple right?...)

These devotions are so important to help us prepare ourselves spiritually for our mission trip that anyway I can help encourage you to read them -- gift cards and all -- is important to me.
As today's devotion says, "let's make it a priority to spend time each and every day in prayer with the Creator of the universe and Lover of our souls."

Bless ya,
Ken

    Hey Brother Ken... It's tee...
    The six guidlines are:
    1. Praise God
    2. Thank God
    3. Confess to God
    4. Request things of God
    5. Pray for others in need
    6. Be still and listen for God.
I hope those are all right... and they may not be word for word

I like Sonic too!!!! But I have this feeling that my name will not be submitted :( - one of the tragedies of becoming an adult - ha! Anyway, wanted to just share some of my thoughts on todays devotion. I wrote a list of prayer requests and thought I would share them. I have to admit that I have struggled with the committment to this trip - it's a lot of preparation and a lot of money and a long way over the seas! But the Lord is creating an excitement in my heart as we get closer to going! I have been on other missions trips and have even been to Scotland before, so I know the joys of sharing God's love to people around the world! I began picturing the people in those Scotland churches and the joy on their faces as they hear our kids sing their praises to God! I can't wait to see that! I just struggle with leaving Mason, our 14 year old, here with all the rest of us overseas. That would be one of my biggest requests. Also, just for a surrendered heart - to be willing to share in any way, at any time - the early mornings scare me a bit, I won't lie! :) I pray for open doors to be able to share about what God has made available for people who want to know Him more. Also for the hearts of our youth - a time of coming together in love for each other and for the Lord. Prayer is real! Don't take it lightly!
    Praise
    Thanks
    Confession
    Requests
    Intercession
    Listen to God

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
