Mission Scotland 09 Blog

412 Praise, a student choir from First Baptist Church Bentonville, Arkansas, has been asked to reach out to the students in Glasgow, Scotland. The young people in Scotland are eager to meet students from the US which gives our students daily opportunities to share their faith in Christ to young people who want to hear what they have to say. This blog will lead up to and follow our trip to Glasgow March 19-28, 2009

Bless the Lord, O my soul

Isn't Psalm 103 a wonderful chapter?  It just makes you want to praise God!  Our devotional today speaks about God's blessings, listing so many that God gives us (found in Psalm 103).  Read that list again and then give a BIG PRAISE SHOUT to our God for His inclusive, inexpressible grace!  Spend time today praising God in gratitude of His amazing goodness!

We started our counter on the blog yesterday and already have 98 folks who visited yesterday. Feel free folks to comment with the day's Sonic question if you wish.  (You don't get the Sonic card, but we would love to hear from you.)

YESTERDAY'S BLOG WINNER IS:

FRASER WILLS

A big CONGRATS man.....you're the first guy who has won....yeah, way to go!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share on the blogsite.

Our Sonic friends are excited for you today Fraz.....

Only 8 more days before we take off.....

Keep praying...seeking His face every day!  Ask Him to give you guidance and direction of what you still need to do in order for you to be mentally, physically, and spiritually prepared.

TODAY'S SONIC QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What verse from Psalm 103 stands out and really speaks to you today?

IT'S COMING:

On Friday, we will have another guest sharing on our blog--Jenny Sorey.  Yes, the world-renown speaker, writer, singer, and all around good egg, Jenny!

She will be giving you hints about sharing your testimony in Scotland.  Jenny will also share her own testimony on the blog. Then on Saturday, I will share my testimony with you.  We hope that these two will help give you a few ideas of the important things that you need to share with someone who does not have a personal relationship with Christ.

This Sunday, during our final meeting, we will pass out your testimonies to you in order for you to look over and help you in preparation for sharing on our trip.  It is my desire that we have at least two folks share their testimony each day during our evening program.  We will let you know that morning who is sharing during the evening program.  (This will give those individuals time to pray during that day before they share.)

Blessing His Holy Name,
Ken

He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth,so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (9-12)

I just love these verses and how it says God's love for us and how our sins are casted away!

    Hey dad,
My favorite verse in Psalm 103 is the first one it says to praise the Lord with all my inmost being. I think I need to strive to praise him with all of me not just parts of my heart but all of it.

HEY! GOD IS AWESOME. He doesn't have human characteristics. In verse 9 and 10, the Bible says that God won't hold his anger towards us. No matter what me do, we can come RUNNING back to Him and He'll be waiting with open arms!!!
    AMEN!!!!

''Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!...and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
My Master is so goooood! And I most certainly can bless Him with all that is within me, no matter how tired, hungry, sick, or annoyed I might be..My God is greater and He is most worthy of praise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Brother Ken, ok so the verse that I love in Psalm 103 is....verse 22 "Let ALL that I am praise the Lord." This to me is saying to all of us singing on stage to remember to give God not a little of your worship, praise or glory, but ALL of it God doesn't want the job half done so, when we get a little tired in the mission or our voices are almost out we can all look at the end of that verse and know that no matter what, we must praise him with ALL THAT WE ARE! :)

Honestly, to choose just one verse from this passage is impossible! Wow! I believe that in this season of my life, verses 13-18 speak most to me. Going through the battle of cancer with both of my parents and actually being with them through that battle and then their passing on, I got to see first hand the reality of verses 14-16 -"For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. The wind blows, and we are gone—as though we had never been here. But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments!" Our days on earth are so very short! But the promise in verse 13 is one I cling to - because I am an orphan on this earth I know that my heavenly father is my true Father - tender and compassionate! "The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him." Thank you Lord for your love and tender-mercies! "Let all that I am praise the Lord!"
