Today's devotional speaks about following God -- seeking Him for guidance and direction. "Leaning on God, following His guidance through what we read, and what He reveals to us in prayer is just like having a flashlight in a dark room, it helps us see our path and not stumble."
"If you follow God's guidance through His Word and prayer, you can have great peace just like having the light in a dark room" (today's devotional)
A scripture passage that has brought me peace when seeking
God's guidance is found in Proverbs 3:5-6 --
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Father, help us to lean on You and follow Your guidance through prayer and the Bible. Keep our paths straight as we seek Your face and direction for our lives each and every day! Amen.
YESTERDAY'S SONIC WINNER IS:
HANNAH MONTGOMERY
picture of Hannah w/sis on airplane.
(See, folks, it's going to be fun on the plane...don't be nervous!)
Congratulations Hannah! It is worth getting on the blog and making a comment,
even when you're sick with the flu!
Thanks to all of the comments. They have been a blessing to all who read them. Chad randomly picked the winner today. Speaking of Chad, he'll be having a birthday on our first day on our mission trip. Yes, he'll be 29 years old on Thursday, March 19th. Let's all surprise him with a card or little token from each of us expressing our own appreciation of all he does for 412 Praise and in preparation for this mission trip. Surprise him yourself as you get on the bus on Thursday!

TODAY'S SONIC QUESTION IS:
What is one thing today that you're leaning on God for guidance?
Following His light,
Ken
I am praying for you all and Mission Scotland, especially Maria Falcon! I am her prayer partner.
Today you are really speaking to me, since Prov 3:5,6 is my life verse! The one thing today that I am leaning on God for guidance is in finding a new job. I am trusting HIM with ALL my heart!!! His ways are not mine.
I am leaning on God in waiting. I struggle with waiting and being anxious about waiting. I am waiting for the Scotland trip (yay!) and Chamber choir tryouts. I am leaning on God in that I will be ready and not nervous for Chamber tryouts.
I am leaning on God with stress and anxiety, because in "Crazy Love" it talks about stress being not trusting God and anxiety not giving it all to Him. So I am leaning on God by trusting Him in every situtation and just "emptying" it all out everyday!

COLLEGE! that is very stressful! and so confusing because I have no idea what I want to do or where I want to go. I'm definitely leaning on God for his guidance in this huge decision. I know He has a great plan for me and will use me for His glory, I just have to be patient and wait for His timing and planing to unfold :]
Hey Guys,
Ken wanted me to pass this along to you..The verses for today ( more like yesterday) are not found in Psalm 19, although you can read it if you want, but the correct chapter is Psalm 119. Thanks for all your comments!

WOW!!! This was an in depth word long and again I was so blessed. To know God is to study His word!! I found out that this Psalm is an acrostic of the hebrew alphabet and I like those (acrostics)! As I was reading this through the thing that came to mind over and over again is how important it is for us as christians to study the word of God for ourselves. It is not enough to hear the Word from our preachers, teachers, and others but we need to spend the time studying and allowing the Spirit of the Lord teach us. the Psalmist spent time in the word and we can see that in verses 119:15-16, and that is where I want to be loving His word so much that I am in it all day long. Oh and one other thing about this Psalm we have some awesome benefits...Psalm 119:98-100(1)your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me(2)I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes and (3)I have more understanding than the elders for I obey your percepts. So when we spend time in the word of God we gain wisdom to recognize that God is at work for our good, and that we anticipate each day as another opportunity to grow in His grace. Insight having the ability to realize the real cause of situations which is sin and evil and know the need for God! Finally understanding, how to react when things don't turn out the way we want them to, and am careful about what we say, quick to apologize, and slow to anger, quick to support and slow to judge.
Spending time in the word according to 1 Cor 1:24,30 tells us that Chris is "the power of God and the wisdom of God"....wisdom that is "foolish to those who are perishing, but to us who are being sved it is the power of God (1Cor 1:18). Psalm 119:97-100 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your percepts. Glory to God!!
I have to say that I leave so much at the throne of God - or at least I should! I am definitely a "worrier" - it's in my blood! I have to daily remind myself that it is not up to me and my own understanding to solve the mysteries of my life! I am greatly seeking the Lord's guidance in plans for my parent's estate and the "stuff" they left behind now that they are in heaven! I have been packing up their (our house) now and it is very hard - both emotionally and physically. I pray that the Lord will guide me through all the planning and closure to their estate. I have to give it to Him daily!
