Mission Scotland 09 Blog

412 Praise, a student choir from First Baptist Church Bentonville, Arkansas, has been asked to reach out to the students in Glasgow, Scotland. The young people in Scotland are eager to meet students from the US which gives our students daily opportunities to share their faith in Christ to young people who want to hear what they have to say. This blog will lead up to and follow our trip to Glasgow March 19-28, 2009

Create in me a clean heart, O God

Psalm 51:10-13 (New International Version)

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me from your presence

or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will turn back to you.

Today's scripture is so moving, so vulnerable.  David's contrite heart and prayer for pardon is so real through these verses.  Our devotional today says that the great news is that God can cleanse those sins and clear our path if we will let Him.  He can repair us and give strength to resist the sin that so easily entangles us if we are willing to turn away from it and constantly seek and ask for His guidance and strength.  WOW.

I love what verse 13 says..."Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will be converted to You."  The Message translation says it this way:
Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God,
and I'll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.
Unbutton my lips, dear God;
I'll let loose with your praise.

Pray with me that each of us will let loose what is tying us down from completely, whole-heartedly, abandon praise and service to our Lord -- so we can let loose with His praise!

YESTERDAY'S SONIC WINNER OF THE DAY IS:

HANNAH JOHNSON

Here' a great picture of Hannah worshiping our Lord
during a Sunday night Worship Service with 412 Praise

Congrats Hannah!  Thank you for continuing to share on the blog.  Your insights and openness have been refreshing to all who have read them.  Keep it up!

TODAY'S SONIC QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Tell me your thoughts on the verses 10-13 from today's scripture (Psalm 51).
What do they mean to you?

Joyfully serving,
Ken

These verses mean to me no matter what happens if I ask God to cleanse me of my sins, He will do so. It is just like the verse in matthew "ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and you will be answered." If I ask God to renew my salvation He will do it. Also the last verse tells us God will handle to punishment and will shall not worry about that! These verses mean soo much to me, because God can and will "create in me a new heart..." all I have to do is ask :)

To me these verses are asking God to allow that relationship between you and him to grow so rapidly and move you into a place where you have a clean and pure heart and you crave his word constiently. So that our relationship with him blossoms into this amazing light that shines for him so we can spread the word to others daily and allow God to enter our hearts and open our minds to him daily.

The verses to me seem to be almost like a last plea. They're begging God not remove his hand. That's what I want to get to in my life. A place where I'm begging God hourly not to remove his hand from me. The last 2 verses seem to sum up the deal. They are asking for a revival, or a renewel. So this passage reads like this in my mind: Lord, I'm longing for you to be forever with me. Please don't ever leave me. Give me the happiness that I had before in you. When this is done, I can go and tell others about you and what you could do for them!!!
    AMEN

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Webster defines "steadfast" as being firmly fixed in place; immovable; not subject to change; being firm in belief, determination, or adherence; loyal; faithful. I desire to be steadfast, to be loyal and immovable! I want to be so grounded in my faith that nothing moves me - no doubt that Satan musters up in my mind - I don't want to leave any place for the Darkness to invade! "Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me." Lord, I pray to be always seeking you and to realize that your grace is a gift that I did not deserve - I must be thankful for it always. I should never forget the price you paid for me! "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." Joy is so beyond happiness! I pray for a restoration of that joy that I first felt when I came to know you as my Savior and Lord! I know that in the dark days here on this earth – you, Lord, are the only thing that sustains me and keeps me going! "Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you." Only when I realize that my heart is right with God and my spirit is willing, then will I have the ability to minister to others and share the good news of Jesus Christ and His salvation promise!
